Very well. Good idea.

I have been playing through UQM again lately and noticed the as yet unimplemented plug in option. Still I prefer the idea of using a TW derivative for the increased turning angles, better graphics, and improved flexibility. Stability is still a concern but meh.

My main goals for TW's future are basically as follows:

Balance the ships and get good graphics for those lacking them. I have a very nice artist just finishing school who has already done up good models for the Batha Deviant, Sefy Nautilus, Nechanzi Purifier and some new ships I designed.

Implement SC 1 style strategy game and a similar more modern strategy game based on SC2 hyperspace maps and with full star systems. Melee is simplistic and storylines have limited replay value so I see this is important.

Implement a flexible campaign mode and write at least a small simple campaign for it.

I check here every couple of years... heheh.
I don't think any brach of TW is still maintainted, but UQM is still alive and kicking so I think there are still people who would like to see SC clones and such around.
And so far TW is still the most advanced project it terms of playability.

I suggest making a thread in the UQM forums for TW and work things out there. These forums are basically a ghost town.

But I don't even know what you want to do with TW, so... well... IDK.

Good luck with whatever it is you want. But if you wish to test the market for fans who are interested then I think UQM is the place, not here.

My friends and I have been messing about with the code lately and have been considering doing something with it. Are we the only ones still interested in working on TW? Does anyone else even play TW still?

Basically this is just me seeing if there is any community left that still checks this forum.

I'm still alive, still here. I've been using Ubuntu Linux, and noticed there's a game that can be downloaded for KDE called KSpaceDuel. I tried it out, and it's similar but it stinks.

If we stripped TW-Light down to just the melee components, and made it in a package format that could be easily downloaded and installed I think we'd really have something that could gain in popularity and interest.

I'm loathe to download TW-Light sources and compile them again. I guess it's because of all the dependencies, though.

You can register, but the board is currently set to manual approval of new accounts. But I don't actually check for these new users... so effectively no one can register.

We had to do this because spam was just getting obnoxious. We'd get like 10 spam posts a week, and it was too time-consuming to keep manually deleting them.

How can we fix this?

1. Right now if you really are a human being who wants to sign up in here, you can manually send me an email here:
register-timewarp.20.ilongforcombat@spamgourmet.com

2. Recommend a phpbb mod or something that can properly deal with this constant spam registration problem.

There's a lot of info in this forum, I'd hate to see it go unused and let the community die out.

Subject: the LONG BACK STORY
Topic Replies: 5

25,000 years ago, the Precursor discovered the existence of Transient Space. However to their dismay, the Transient Space was infested with a hostile race named Nalaraja.

War soon commence between the two super species as the Nalaraja learned of methods to break into True Space.

The Precursor devoted millions of Sumatra Battle Platform, Mark III Cruisers and Vindicator Tug vessels, carrying weapon no less powerful the Utwig Bomb, marched valiantly into war.

Secret weapons called the Hyper-Dimensional Bomb, was developed to collapse the Transient Space travel and to seal away the Nalarajas. However the plan was scrapped, due to possibility collapsing the two dimensions. Instead, Transient Space Portal Stabilizers was made to create a large portal for the entire fleet of Precursor to pass through.

The Precursor eventually won the war; the Nalaraja was defeated, though not completely annihilated. Precursor only blasted their technology back into the pre-warp ages.

The Precursor did not disappear due to the Nalaraja; instead it was something Precursor found in the Transient Space that contributed to their disappearance.

25,000 years later, the Nalaraja has long since reestablished their technology base. However it never tried to re-enter the True Space in fear of Precursor's retaliation, until the Orz.
The Orz sub specie has risen from their thrall status since the fall Nalarajas 25,000 years ago. Their co-evolution with Nalarajas has lead to constant civil war for the control of the Transient Space. The history Transient Space from that point on was peppered with intermediate peace only to buy time two races to seek out material to feed the war.
However the stalemate was soon toppled by intruders from True Space, by specie called the Androsynths. The Androsynth arrived behind the Orz line at the most inopportune time, which toppling the Orz chain of command and lead to an Orz catastrophic defeat.
Faced with annihilation, the remainder of Orz armada fled into True Space using the technology from their Androsynth captives.

2150 the Ur-Quan Master ruled the True Space.

During this time the Orz was able to open a portal into Quasi-Space based on Androsynth multi-dimensional research. There in Quasi-Space, the Orz Queen Funorz intended to hide herself while awaited for a chance to strike back.
Nalaraja begin to suspect the Precursor no longer occupies the True Space. To confirm their suspesion they begin to probe the True Space. There they found their pawn to further their search, whom the Nalaraja came to call the Shiavat.

2155 The Vindicator and the Alliance strikes back.

The war between the Ur-Quan and Alliance rages on. The Nalaraja sponsored Shiavat’s Transient Space travel for the Precursors probing, though it also contributed to the destruction of several the Alliance’s key Starbase.

2185 After combing True Space, Nalaraja is satisfied that Precursor have in fact disappeared.
Their first move was to exact revenge from the humiliation 25,000 years ago and to flush out the Orz Queen from Quasi-Space. Unfortunately the Nalaraya, discovered the Precursor’s Hyper-Dimensional Bomb and urged the Shiavat to detonate it in the Quasi-Space Rift.
